TOURAINE, BIRTHPLACE OF TRADE GUILDS

For centuries France's Journeymen have settled in Val de Loire where they built its castles, forged ironworks, wove silk, worked leather and made the barrels which contain the best vintages.

Still numerous nowadays the journeymen have participated to the creation of the Trade Guilds Museum thanks to many trades and by exhibiting their most beautiful masterpieces and thousand works which express the sake of quality workmanship and the goal of their companies : the professional and moral improvement.
UNIQUE COLLECTIONS

In this museum it is a must to admire the lock with traps and secrets ; the minute park gate (2325 wrought iron elements, 14 year of work) ; the pair of clogs linked by 24 rings, all carved from the block ; the prestigious jointing roof structure ; the sugar pagoda ;the Eiffel tower in cut slates and so on. Some etchings, earthenware flasks, walking sticks and tools for a moving and unusual whole. Journeymen' history, legends and traditions are revealed through hundreds of items.
